Julia Adey

Buckinghamshire Candidate
The Wooburns and Bourne End

Having lived all my life and raised three sons in Buckinghamshire, I moved to the Cores End area of Bourne End in 2007.

I am a qualified radiographer, have worked in corporate relocation helping individuals and families settle fully into new areas and for an international medical research charity often fundraising and running seminars, therefore have experience of interacting with people from all walks of life.

Have held the positions of Vice Chairman (Fundraising & Membership) of the Beaconsfield Association, Treasurer of the BCCA Conservative Women’s Association, Chairman of the Wooburns & Bourne End branch and I currently run the Bucks Supper Club for the Association.

Was first elected as a Wycombe District Councillor in 2011 and returned in 2015 with a good increase in majority.  I have served on the Planning Committee from day one, also spending some time on the Improvement and Review Committee and as Deputy Chairman of the Standards Committee.  I became a Deputy Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration in 2008, then moving to Community and Housing before taking over as a full Cabinet Member at which time I helped deliver the new Leisure Centre at Handy Cross.  I am still a Cabinet Member and currently my portfolio is Environmental Services where I am addressing the upkeep of our waste disposal services and am pleased to say that we have recycling rates well above the national average plus In the last year I have worked towards an action plan to cut the levels of nitrogen dioxide.

I have served as a district representative on both the Health & Wellbeing Board for Bucks and the Police & Crime Panel for the Thames Valley.   I am a trustee of both the Wycombe and John Lane Charity Almshouses.

I should like the opportunity to carry on as a councillor for the area I serve at present, with the addition of Bourne End and Hedsor, in what should be interesting times at the commencement of the new Unitary Council for Buckinghamshire.  I believe I have plenty of experience to meet the challenges to come and hope you will give me the chance to be an asset to the new Unitary.  I am always happy to hear from residents, available whether by telephone or email and will endeavour to continue responding to any queries promptly.
