Bucks Teenager Keen to Break into Politics

Chiara Annunziata, 17, of St Bernard's Catholic Grammar School, plans to study politics at university next year and attended the ‘Meet Your MP’ event at Burnham Park Hall on Friday, 25 November 2011.  Chiara, who has always lived in Burnham, said she first became interested in politics during the build up to last year's general election.

She added: "We need to encourage younger people to take an interest and become involved in politics, whether this is done through schools or emphasising the link between voting and the way our country will be run."

The former pupil of Eton End School in Datchet, who works part-time at Johnsons Shoes in Windsor, is being mentored through the political stages and process by Paul Kelly, Burnham Parish Councillor and South Bucks District Councillor for Burnham Church, and Sheela Mackintosh, Chairman of the Beaconsfield Constituency Conservative Association. Chiara has also had some work experience in the office of Dominic Grieve QC MP.
